Alpaca home and garden

Alpaca are popular lifestyle block animals and are gaining numbers in NZ. The Soft silky fibres are similar to wool but have no lanolin. Due to the lush nature of their wool they make perfect rugs and feature pieces. They have a thinker skin so we find that a shorn short wool skin is the best for tanning otherwise they can become rather heavy and bulky. With the varying colours and the unique shape, Alpacas are great to get tanned. Adding a more rustic look while combining practicality, warmth and texture not only are these animals something different to have around the farm but also great and unique to get tanned.
